SPECIALIZED FACILITY

LOCATION: Fort Collins, Colorado (1 hour north of Denver International Airport)

SIZE: 180' long, closed circuit, recirculating tunnel with 12' wide x 10' tall test section. Provides consistency and uniformity in the flow with plenty of room for riders in test section. Quiet test section eases communication. Elevated platform positions bike and rider in unobstructed wind flow.

WIND SPEED RANGE:0-50 mph. Most tests conducted at 25-30 mph in the middle and most accurate range of fan speed.

ACCURACY: Fan speed is controlled to 0.01% accuracy. Repeatability of tests has been verified to within 1%.

TEST APPARATUS: Custom designed using a 1-component system specialized for drag, eliminating errors associated with post-processing at other facilities. Drag resolution = 0.004 lbs under load (approximately 2g). Yaw measurements of ± 30˚ Video projection system with floor display in front of rider allowing real-time feedback

RESULTS REPORTED: Drag reported in CdA, drag force (grams or Newtons) and power (watts) All results provided on DVD after the testing including:

The wind tunnel owned and operated by Ambient Air Technologies (AAT) represents the optimal in controlled testing, simulating wind speeds a rider would encounter in the real world. The wind tunnel is a scientifically controlled tool allowing the athlete, his or her coach and team to make adjustments to the rider's position and equipment and watch how these affect the rider's drag under controlled wind conditions.

The validity of the tests is highly dependent upon the accuracy and repeatability of the tests. Ambient Air Technologies has validated repeatability to within 1%, referred to by one happy coach and sports physiologist as "amazing repeatability."

The AAT wind tunnel is now available at greatly reduced cost. Previous exclusive arrangements have been discontinued making the wind tunnel available to teams, manufacturers, coaches, and individual riders directly from AAT. This is the same wind tunnel facility that has tested many elite riders including many of the riders for the 2008 Garmin/Chipotle Team Slipstream. We congratulate Team Slipstream on an outstanding initial racing season, especially at the Tour de France.
